I've been planning on buying a new laptop. My current lappy, Vaio, has run out of steam. It's a Core Duo running on 1.5GB of RAM and XP. I switched to Ubuntu for a few days and was happy with it. I'm alternating between Ubuntu and XP now. I'm really sick and tired of windows.
The things I'm looking for in a laptop are:
- weight factor, something lightweight, which would mean a smaller screen compared to the 15.4" widescreen I have now,
- Horsepower...for multiple applications, faster boot up times and for my photoshop work and other multimedia applications which would require good processing power
-operating system...now this is the tough part...i ve used XP for a long time. It's served me well...but I really don't think I want to go in for vista specially after hearing all the horror stories from my friends. I think its time to go for the Leopard, but my only concern is the availabilty of software(read free/pirated software:) )
-not really concerned about storage..i already have 250GB of external hdd space
-and my budget would be somewhere around 1500$
I've kind of narrowed down to 3 brands...Dell XPS(comes with vista only), Thinkpad X61(this one has a Win XP option) and Macbook
What do you guys think?
